SUBMISSION
POLICY
The Call for
Submissions is open to all writers who are Hmong or write about
their Hmong experiences. Hmong writers may choose to write about any
theme or issue (Hmong or non-Hmong related). Non-Hmong writers MUST
write about themes or issues that are directly related to the Hmong
community.
Submissions that
address the designated focus for this issue are especially encouraged. Paj
Ntaub Voice only accepts unpublished original works. Artists
and writers must notify Hmong Arts Connection if their submission is
being published in another publication.
All artists whose
work is published in Paj Ntaub Voice will receive a
complimentary copy. In addition, artists may have the opportunity to
read or exhibit their work at a public reception & reading.
Visual and
literary artists retain all rights to their work and must attribute
publication in Paj Ntaub Voice when being re-published.
Literary
Submissions:
We
accept fiction and nonfiction submissions in no more than any two
categories of the following:
- Poetry &
traditional Hmong poetry (i.e. kwv txhiaj, paj huam): 3
entries max
- Essays &
short stories: 3,000 words max
- Criticism
& interviews: 3,000 words max
- Plays/Performances:
3,000 words max
Visual Art
Submissions:
DO NOT send
originals. Submit high resolution jpg or bitmap images by email or on a CD by
mail. Maximum of 8.
SUBMISSION
REQUIREMENTS
- All work must be
double-spaced on white paper and numbered consecutively. The title
should appear on each page.
- Do not put your
name anywhere on the submission. Submissions are reviewed without the
author's name.
- A submission cover
letter with your name, address, telephone number(s), email address,
title(s) of submission(s), and a biographical statement of 3-5
sentences MUST accompany submissions. Visual art work submissions must
also include an artist statement.
- Email submissions
are preferred. Please submit by email. If snail mailing, send two paper copies
along with .doc files on a CD-ROM clearly labeled with your name
and titles of submissions to:
